Sutherland, NE Area Guide

Sutherland is located in west-central Nebraska and is made up of a thriving community of 1,129 people. This community was founded in 1891 and was incorporated as a village in 1905. Sutherland is the ideal conception of traditional American values of family, work, church, school, and community. Sutherland citizens are very community and family oriented, with dedications to church and civic organizations.

History

Incorporated as the Village of Sutherland in April 1905, Sutherland’s residents have taken pride in keeping up with the times, and looking after the welfare of neighbors and friends. Sutherland, already of Union Pacific's "mainline" across Nebraska's plains, became an air corridor as well, for coast-to-coast airmail flights in 1924.
